Trolls / Spammers / Kooks / Clueless People

I’ve had a a continuous presence on the web for over 10 years . It’s pretty difficult to go that long without attracting some trolls, kooks, and generally clueless people. I’ve recently created a new topic to consolidate guestbook entries, comments and emails from such people.

In general, when such input from these people are held up for ridicule, they get the point and move on. Unfortunately, one such troll, a real no-talent ass clown, didn’t get the point. He started by signing my guestbook in November 2004. This individual has a reputation as a particularly vile troll on the newsgroup, rec.arts.marching.drumcorps. I created a post and moved his guestbook entry and all subsequent guestbook entries to this post (the ones I haven’t deleted). He then started posting comments to this post. Eventually, I decided to treat him as a spammer and block his attempts (using WordPress’ Blacklist plugin) to post content to this web site. When it became clear he was being blocked and that all further content posted by him would simply be deleted, he became abusive and posted vile insults about members of my family. Eventually, I completely blocked his IP address from posting to this web site. Since then, he’s attempted to post content (the same vile insults) from different computers at least twice.

In all fairness, he denies posting content to this web site, but his past history and the IP addresses he posted from say otherwise. He’s retaliated by posting the same vile crap he’s attemmpted to here on usenet — here’s an example of a thread he’s created. Keep in mind this is a so called Christian minister posting this garbage.

The real irony is his own words are far more damaging to his reputation than anything I’ve ever written about him.
