Here’s a satellite photo of the Korean peninsula at night. Notice the difference between North and South Korea. I guess there’s a reason the official web site for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) is actually hosted from a server in Spain.
Interesting pic that brings back memories. In 2001 I flew from Incheon (that little “peninsula” – actually an island – jutting into the sea just west of Seoul) to Busan (the bright spot on the extreme SE corner of the country). The plane flew low enough that I could easily see all the lights from the various cities and towns between the two cities. That was one of the more memorable flights I’ve ever taken.
